First lesson of the term

You have been in school three days now, but it is time to say welcome back to English.

We welcome the new students who have joined us.

I was supposed to get your diary by yesterday night.
Two students have not sent this and a third forget to attach the document! This will mean an "F-warning" for the course.

We were going to talk about grades today but we will do that next Monday and Tuesday instead when you will work on your own on some texts to do with Uganda.

This term we will start to focus on this as one important thing for our study program is the field-trip to Soroti in the third year.

We start off by doing an interview about your Christmas holidays.
Here is the document!

Then we will practise a little bit of grammar- namely phrasal verbs. A phrasal verb consists of a verb + preposition which has an idiomatic meaning.

The problem is that the prepositions often are different comparing English and Swedish  e.g se UPP ----}  look OUT
Look up means something completely different.
I LOOKED UP the meaning of the word in a dictionary. (slå upp)

Here is the document.

Then we are going to do a listening exercise.
Here is the link.

Finally, working in groups of four we are going to do some planning for the course:

1.The course consists of two novels.
We have read "The Boy in the striped pyjamas together.
Are we going to read a book together or are you going to read books individually.
2.Decide in the group on one way we can practise listening
3.Decide one way in the group we can practise speaking
4. Decide on one text from "Context" we can work on together.
5.   Decide on one topic in the group we can do a writing assignment about.

Mail your answers to me by the end of the lesson
